I guess it all started about the time I was 10, My dad bought a 1949 John Deere B. Dad, my Uncles and myself used it to the B to get out firewood and plow snow with its 3 point backblade. We brought the tractor home halloween night of 1981. I am now 37 and have been involved with tractors ever since, and probably will be as long as God will let me. I have helped others with their tractors and have gained a real reputation in my town as the guy who drives tractors in the local parades. We started to go to parades as soon as I was able to handle the tractor in such a parade situation. Then the love of these beasts grew to antique tractor pulling, I now have an oliver super 88 I mainly pull with, but I never miss a chance to move the ollie out of the road to get my perfect 620 out for a nice sunny sunday ride up to the farm and back, thinking of my Grandad and my dad and his brothers and sisters and all the activity that must have gone on there in those days. There is just somthing about my 1957 620 just putting across the big field that gets my mind and memories going, so many too try to list, but I know you know what I mean. We now have wonderful family reunions at that farm. We camp there, ride quads there, have fires and cookouts, and just plain great fellowship, my Grandad would have sure loved the fun we have up there. We meet and gather as much as possible. With my wife and two super great kids, all of the family and family friends, its just so hard to see us getting older and those days of fun slip away. The real key to this is to remember the fun times you have and keep those memories alive even when you loved ones are gone, I am still lucky enough to have my Mom and Dad with me and many family members, but I know the ones who are gone, and are many, that they are having there own gatherings in a greater place than we have here on this spinning ball. And I know that one day we will all be together again, so yes the departure of loved ones is very painful and slow to heal, but everytime the wind blows through the pines and whistles by me or I still think I smell my Grandads pipe or hear the him humming his favorite songs, smell the coal stove burning or Perky barking, I know that him and all my departed loved one still are alive, just not hear.
