Glenn the Partsman | This is in dedication to Glenn Soloman, a former IH partsman at Fowler Truck and Tractor, later Lyon Implement in Richmond, MO. Glenn passed in the Spring of 1983, after spending most of his adult life behind the counter, selling parts. I worked along side Glenn for only 6 months, but learned many things from Glenn. The interesting thing about Glenn was his ability to anticipate needs of the customer. He could spot someone coming onto the lot, know their vehicle, tie this to the equipment they owned and nearly have the part waiting as they walked through the door. I know this is over exaggeration, but he did know his customers, knew the business, and tried very hard to give great service. I had limited experience, but Glenn never held that against me. Even if I completely blew it, and ordered the wrong part for a customer, he'd be the one to say 'You are learning'. The day Glenn passed, he was at work, doing what he loved. He will always be sadly missed. Glenn was a quality partsman. Steve Parsons, TN, entered 2001-06-22 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
