Now that the wheat genome has been sequenced perhaps scientists can prevail over this and develop a crop resistant to it.
As I've read for several year it isn't IF it will reach North America, but WHEN.
Of course if a genetically modified wheat crop is successful those that despise Monsanto will scream and yell even if Monsanto is NOT the company or institution bringing out the GMO wheat. Some just like to blame them for anything and everything and tell bad something is for us even though there is no basis whatsoever for their rant.
I do hope that wheat breeders can stay ahead of this ill.
