Have you checked compression on both cylinders? You may have one dead cylinder and the other just can't handle the load without bogging down and kiling the engine. The Onans are notorious for throwing rods, etc and still running on one cylinder. I've heard of them having a rod sticking out of the block and still running. Personally I've got about 5 of them in the shop right now with broke rods, one with a broke rod and broke cam shaft together, and all of them were running when they came in the door. I might be wrong but ther symptoms sound familiar.
