i've owned a jd 2 cyl. for years & have driven the neibors old ih tractors in the field, but in 1993 i discovered a sleeper. i bought a d-17 allis. i liked how it handeled from the start, but the real surprise was when i took it to the local farm stock pull four years ago. it took 1st in both the 6500# & 7500# classes and every year since. this is a strictly stock pull and i dyno'ed at 51+ hp. the tractors i've beaten include jd 70's & 720's, ih 450's, oliver 880's, etc. usually by 10 to 30 feet on a black dirt track. they power out and i never have. if your looking for a nice handy tractor or a power house consider a d-17. for sale - one 1943 jd A.
