If you do replace the engine, consider the Ford Factory reman. It comes with the same warantee as a new truck. I did buy one of these for SIL when she blew her pre PS pulling a trailer through the Rockies in Utah. When you find out what is in that fac reman, it is a bargain, and the warantee is nationwide. The engine is complete with new injectors and injection pump and glow plugs. The install time is half of the time needed for a shortblock install.
