I lived in Green River, WY in 1951 6 months of that cold was enough for a lifetime. The wind would blow like crazy all day and the Temp was in the single digits or less, never heard of windchill back then. They never let school out unless there was enough snow for us kids to sled in and then we got the afternoon off. the main street from the grammar school to the highway was always left with snow for us to sled on. We were a lot tougher than kids are today. Walked 30 miles to school with no shoes and no coat. Wore short pants until we were 12 never complained about it. Walt PS the first half is true.
