Use of non-detergent oil in old tractor

I just bought a 1945 Allic-Chalmers WC and was told by the previous owner to use non-detergent oil. Looking into it I have read an article which agrees saying that detergent oil used in an old engine would dislodge sludge that would clog the oil ports and galleys(?). Another article on this site said to use detergent oils that they suspend the foreign particles that will then drain out. What should I use? Thanks
