Was many years ago when John Deere took over Chamberlain that they stopped using Perkins engines. Also this has separate braking system and not inboard disc brakes like the JD units, that is this unit has normal DOT 3 brake fluid to operate a separate braking system. The rams and bucket do not look like the JD units. It also has a KOMATSU number painted on the machine after it was re-painted. Have has a suggestion that it could be a JCB, but then again the hydraulic system and rams for both backhoe and front bucket are not that of the JCB design. This articulated backhoe loader still remains unsolved, it weighs in at about 6 tons. Front and rear tyre are the same size and is 4 wheel drive.
