Ok, I need some electrical 101 help. I've got 2 tractors with bad systems. I wish to keep them standard, 6 volt postive ground. That's just how I am. The IH 300 I've got a new battery, new generator, & new regulator - and it will discharge - sometimes - when not running. Very frustrating. Sometimes it won't have any juice to restart after being off for an hour. Sometimes it works fine even after being off for 2 days.... I suspect the NEW regulator, but could be other things? Any way I can test this critter out? It appears to work right when running, the ammeter shows good charge at first, little charge in a while, only discharges at very slow idle... Then I have a Ford 960. This puppy doesn't charge at all. Bad generator, or bad regulator? What wires do I cross to bypass the regulator & see if it charges? (Battery holds a charge when pumped up with the charger, so that's good.) In general I've checked the connections & wiring for the obvious, and I have a Radio Shack volt/amp meter to test things, if you tell me where to test... ;) Maybe with 2 bad ones, I will actually learn this stuff & won't have to bug everybody again! Thanks, --->Paul
