I was using a 5 foot King Kutter behind a JD M that we used to have, that I had built a 3-point for. It didn't have the capability to lift the whole mower, so I wasn't using a top link, but it worked fine just lifting the front. Until, the bottom corner of the mower hit a stump, the back flipped up, and the top link frame on the mower hit the back of my seat! It didn't really hurt anything, but it scared me, so I never used it on the little JD again. I have heard that some people that use a chain run it through a pipe to prevent that. Our new Bush Hog has a flexible top link bracket, like many of them do, that allows the mower to float.
