There is a torque converter/fluid coupling in the housing so it probably needs to be split to repair the leak. The crack is troublesome in that patching it to stop the leak is much different than grooving it out and properly repairing the crack. Cracks like that tend to continue until component failure. Sorry this is such bad news. Jim
