Having rescued two 300s, I've found it much easier to get things lined out with the side panels and hood removed. Other than fighting rusty screws on a cross brace in front of the radiator, it's an easy job to take off in one piece with the help of another person. I found used original Case service and parts manuals, with minimal greasy finger prints and coffee stains, on the Internet/eBay. Made my own Case color coded wiring harness, soldering each connecter (used a grinder to take off the plastic) and covering each with shrink tape. In the long run the extra work is worth it. In the Case forum archives there is lots of how to fix on this model.
