If you take valve cover off,DONT TURN SCREWS ON LINKAGES or change injector height .they are easy to get out of kelter and have a run away. A guy i worked with ran the overhead on a 6-71.he got 1 injecter travel off just a hair.it started quickly when he fired it up and went to cranking up.the kill switch to pump wont shut it down when set wrong.he pulled emergency kill cable.door was gone. I ran over put a shop manual on the air intake. If its cranking over ok and wont start must be for good reason.why did you smother it down in first place? Might be best to hunt up a retired big truck mechanic and let him perform his detroit skill magic on it
