I wonder where they came up with that. The largest Ford flathead V-8 that I am aware of is a 337 cu in. It was really a Lincoln engine and was only used in Lincoln cars and the F7 and F8 Trucks after 1948. They had 27 head bolts to the side. Most flatties were either a 221 or a 255. All the 400+ cu.in ones were V-12's. I only count 4 plugs per side. If it is a 403 I'd like to know a lot more about it. I am working on 2 Ford Fire trucks now. One with a 255 bored .030 and a 337 bored .060.
