I'd start all over with a 1 wire 12V alternator and rewire the whole tractor.Dealing with 60-70 year old wiring is a pain in itself,new wire,new 12V neg ground system you'd be good to go with less labor and expense in the long run than trying to get that old 6V pos.grd. system back up and running and it wasn't hitting on much when new.
