I'm in western SC. Cut a small amount of Johnson Grass for hay last week. It has been cool, foggy, threats of rain and the hay is not drying well. Went to field yesterday with tractor and rake. Still too green. Went back today with the intention of raking it and seeing if it would dry in the windrow. Checked radar on the computer before I left, nothing showing. Got to field, saw clouds, called cousin who lived several miles away in the direction of the clouds. His first words were "it's raining." Went back to house, could see rain in the distance. Nothing at house. Did some lawn mowing. Could see rain on my hay, across an intervening valley. Moved some vehicles off the lawn. Saw a few drops on the windshield, put mower up. No more rain came. Went in to let things settle out, started typing this, a brisk shower of rain came. Wife came in from planting a greens patch that I had prepared earlier today, so at least we got something done.
I feel for the guys in the British Isles where I understand they have to deal with this kind of weather often.
