Modern stoves are producing Carbon Monoxide. it is assumed the stove will not be used so much that the issue becomes serious. It also consumes oxygen from the house. Using a range hood, or Down draft surface venting system is so common today that the external vent is considered unneeded. Two weeks ago our CO alarm went off after my wife ran the stove making batch after batch of baked goods (yummy) without using the down draft fan. Though not in deadly proportions, it sure woke us up to the need to supply venting. The flame (natural gas or Propane) should be two colors. an inner cone of bright light blue (hydrogen gas burning) and an outer envelope of more transparent blue (carbon burning) the presence of yellow tips or yellow ended flames is unburned carbon, or partially burned carbon, making CO. a very pointy tipped flame with sharp outline is an indication of excess air, and also needs adjustment for maximizing combustion efficiency. Adjust the air mix to just eliminate the yellow. Ovens operate full on, or off. So there is no intermediate level of adjustment. Jim
