Today's gas is terrible stuff and carburetors will start to suffer varnishing after just 30 days if fuel is left untreated. If you are going to have some one clean it, find some one that is known for doing them well. A lot of places will soak them and give it back to you. To do it properly it needs to come apart and all plugs should come out before soaking. Take a good look at the spark plugs, leads, ect. Most likely a fuel problem but weak ignition can cause these symptoms as well.
