Sounds like root worms and doubt if the label will allow treatment this close to eating....and may not allow treatment of sweet corn at all. Check the label for what can be used at what stage.
Insecticides are rather dangerous if you get overexposed as most mess with an essencial brain chemical. You can die quite easily....
