BN Battery Negative Ground

I purchased a BN a few weeks ago and found the battery has the neg terminal grounded. The battery is a 6 volt and it was my understanding the pos terminal was to be grounded. What happens if I let the battery as is or if I change the terminals the way they are supposed to be? Thanks for your help.
