I am writing a follow-up from a while back: I have obtained a complete pto from a 1086 that was parted out. I erroneously reported previously that it was from a 986. Several helpful replies, all to the effect that it was possible to swap in the 540/1000 pto to replace my 1000 rpm pto in my 1586. But it was pointed out to me that it was not a direct bolt-in, that I might have to make an adaptor, that I guess the input shaft was larger on the 1586. Any ideas on what to prepare for? We have a good machine shop, I just haven't taken the pto out of my 1586 yet. Thanks.
