I am about to tackle a daunting task: I want to have a 540 rpm pto in my 1586, and the parts guy at the dealer says one from a 986 will fit. I got a friend who is junking out his 986, and so I have gotten the rights to the 540/1000 rpm pto from it. Question: Other than a lift on the end of a hoist on my other tractor, and a piece of pipe to fit over the end of one of the output shafts (for leverage), any thoughts on the amount of help I need to line up to get the pto out of the the 986 and into my 1586? (I of course will also be taking the old 1000 rpm pto out of my 1586, but I figure that either pto's removal would be similar.) Thanks.
