I do not think it will cause problems. I would clean the cover surface to bare metal and put a very thin whisp of chassis grease on the trans/dif casting. This will allow the RTV to seal, but come off when needed. It also allows the RTV to be on the cover for cleaning. Use only a skim coat, gobs of it comming out in the trans can get into places it is not needed. I would also use it under the bolt heads on the cover to keep water out of the casting (as much as possible). JimN
