All 706's are 12 volt neg. ground diesels have two 6 volts that are hooked together for 12 . And if the genarator is in good working order and the regulator is doing it's job then it will handel the 4 lites in a flat top fender and tow lites on the back but the lite switch won't it will only take five lites . Now on the later model 706's they came from the factory with a alt. I have had both and the gen. will do the job and i use to do a lot of nite work.
