I replaced the ignition drive oil seal in my 1948 Cub. Before removing the magneto and governor we placed #1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke. Found the timing mark on the governor drive gear, but cannot locate the one timing mark on the idler gear. Finally rotated the crankshaft enough to locate the two marks on the idler gear that mesh with the camshaft, but even with reading glasses and a flashlight I cannot see the single mark that is used to time the governor. Is there any way to properly time the governor without the single mark on the idler?
