engine trouble farmall bn help!!

my bn ran well but burned oil and smoked.tore down motor found oil on top of pistons found one broken oil ring and some scored rod bearings.sleeves and head,valves etc. all looked good. replaced rings and rod bearings motor stated right up and ran good, smokes the same if not worse. what did i miss here?could the valves be leaking that bad?it also spits some oil out muffler.any info would be much appreaciated before i tear it down again.thanks.
