Kirk - Definitely sounds like a low battery problem and would account for the gradual loss of power under load. Reason: As battery voltage drops so does the spark voltage. And the higher the load, the more spark voltage is required to fire the engine. How to fix? If your 504 has an ammeter, punch below for a trouble shooting chart. If it just has an idiot light, you'll need a DC voltmeter place across the battery to help sort it out. Then substitute "voltmeter reads 13.5 volts or higher?" for "does the ammeter indicate charge?" in the trouble shooting chart. Recommend however you give the battery an overnight charge before you begin. Good luck!
