Maybe the guy thought there was something in the tank worth fixing. I think there's just the baffle. Or...maybe he wanted storage space. Seriously, why someone would cut away the top section of the gas tank mystifies me. I've heard of separating the hood from tank, but not this. It's possible that they wanted to clean and seal the tank really well and began the process, but changed their minds for some reason. Chris B.
