I have a 43 H farmall fixed up like new. I have got to the point where I use it alot for light work such as raking hay. I really like using it but here is the problem. After driving it for a couple hours that 4th gear seems pretty slow. Rake hay all day and it doesn't seem like you get much done. It would sure be nice to have a gear in between 4th and 5th. I never have done any transmission work to an H but thought of a wild idea while raking the other day. Take transmission apart and switch up some gears (maybe getting some gears out of I don't know how many thousands of transmissions you could find in variuos salvage yards) and making a faster forth gear and maybe changing some of the other gearing if you wanted to or had to to get the faster forth. Maybe this is a complete shot in the dark but thought I would see if anyone has ever tried anything like this or had any thoughts.
