My 966 has the large dual 6 volt batteries. Been having low crank or no crank problems. Removed alternator and took it to elec shop. Tested out a zero charge. Owner rebuilt it while his wife cut my hair. Out of there in 35 minutes with 'new' alt. Installed and nice charge on alt gage. Then after a days planting. No crank, low batteries. Batterie fairly new and tested OK. Charged the batteries up. Tested with voltmeter at 6.65v. Installed and Fired the old girl up. Put meter on each battery and it still read 6.6 volts. My question is where does the output from the alternator enter the system? and why does the battery that is second in line read 6 volts insted of 12? Does that alternator put out 12 volts or 6? Where do I check for alternator output? And yes, I am leaving the key switch on. Gordo
