Okay, here goes. The pressure of compression and combustion is equal everywhere ABOVE the top ring. That high crown on Sprout's pistons do nothing to make a seal in the head, nor do they seal ANYTHING while it is still in the cylinder, that is the primary job the top ring. Since the top of the piston is smaller than the cylinder, the gasket does not care where the top of the piston is, because the sealing ring is still below it. The high crown only occupies more space in the combustion chamber than a lower crown, less open space at TDC means a higher compression ratio and more power. I think you could set the rocker gear on and push the rocker down with the heel of your hand and get a good idea of how much valve travel you have available at TDC. I would bet that your spring will be coil bound before you hit the piston, or at least very close. If someone showed me that picture of most any engine, I would say that it almost certainly would not work. But the 20 does have a huge true open chamber, and I have used these pistons myself. Is that a narrow tread?
