polarity on regulator

I bought a new voltage regulator for my IH706 which was preset for positive ground. Before I realized that the tractor was neg. ground,we started the tractor. Did we fry the regulator by doing that? My generator light is still on and I'm pretty sure the generator is good. Thanks in advance
