Super M tune up

I looked at the tune up specs and it says the firing order is 1,3,4,2. Doesn't mean the spark plug wires have to be in that order on the distribtor cap or am I missing something. Mine are going 1,2,3,4 counter-clockwise. How it this timing adjusted? My timing light guide shows that the whole distributer should rotate but I don't see how that is possible.
