1949 Case VAC

1949 Case VAC
This was my Grandfather's VAC. He bought it years back, because it had a cracked block. 'still fixed to this date some, decades later.' My uncle gave it to me a few years ago after my Grandpa died. I had driven it as a kid, and I now have a small ten acre farm, so I'm very glad to have it. I just finished overhauling the engine July 2000. I had to replace the head and all but 3 valves, one piston, all the rings and rod bearings, exh. manifold and elbow, plus misc. Next I will be try to fix my ratcheting noise when I back up, and convert it to use 3pt. equipment. Cute story. My uncle was over about two weeks ago 'July 2000' to help me change a blown rear tire. The chloride had ate a large spot out of the wheel where the valve stem went, but being my uncle is as handy or more so than my Grandfather, he proceeded to weld about a 2' X 4' hole up with my torch and about 3 medal coat hangers, heated and flat spotted another part of the wheel so we could drill a new whole for the valve stem. I guess it runs in the family 'Cracked Block?'
