I was raised in Fowlerville Mi on a 120 acre farm. Dads tractor of choice was a brand new 1949 Farmall M. He used it for all the chores on our farm. He would complain that he thought is used a little too much gas but he also said there wasn't a tree stump he couldn't pull out of the ground. Well as most farmers know that farming isn't what it use to be and he sold the farm and his 1949 M. I think thats the first time I saw a tear in dads eye when that tractor left the farm. Dad has been gone now for some years and I started to collect old tractors. Some years later and several miles away I came across a Farmall M tractor sitting outside someones house. I decided to to stop and ask if the tractor was for sale. The lady at the house said she would sell it so I went to look at the tractor. I ask her if she knew the history of this tractor. She said her husband had bought the tractor some years ago in Fowlerville. She bosted how her husband had driven it all the way home from Fowlerville (about 30 miles). I thought this couldn't be dad's tractor so I wrote down the serial number. When I got home I called mom and ask if she had the serial number to the M. When she read off the numbers I about fell off my chair. IT WAS DAD'S. Well needless to say I bought the tractor for 650. 00 and brought her home. I'm sure dad was looking down and smiling.
