I had wanted to collect tractors for a number of years and I finally got started last year. I had been going to pulls and shows for ten years or more and finally decided to start myself. I found a Farmall Super C in Monon, Indiana around March of 2000 and went to get it. In May of 2000, I found a Farmall Super M in Pomeroy Iowa and went to get it. In July of 2000, I found a JD R model in Ancaster Ontario and went for it since I had wanted one of them for a long time. In August sometime, I found a Farmall H in Westminster Maryland and went to get it. In December of 2000, I went to an auction in Asheville NC and picked up a JD 60 Orchard. Didn't get to buy anything again until June of 2001 when I went to Fort Loramie Ohio to pick up my JD 730 diesel. I had gone to an auction in Pa the same weekend but the prices they were bringing there were outrageous so I left there and went to Ohio. Then in November of 2001, I took four days and went to Colby Wisconsin to pick up a JD 60 row crop. I left there and went to Macon Missouri to pick up a 46 Farmall H. I have got to see a fari amount of country during my travels and am working towards collecting a tractor from every state and every providence in Canada. Got a good start so far. You can see all my tractors if you do a search under my name in the Tractor Photos section on the site. I plan to collect until I have no more room to store them and enjoy every minute of it. I usually go to about 12 to 14 pulls a year and several parades. I really enjoy giving the little kids rides on the tractors, to see their eyes light up when they set up on that Big R or any of them. The kind of people you see at shows are the best. You can talk to someone like they have known you for years even though you have never seen them before. Hope you enjoyed the story and drop a line sometime. Joel Williams, from Va, entered 2001-12-14 |
