|My wife's name is Leslee who also enjoys tractors (but not quite as much as I do, she doesn't get all greasy) I live in Bible Grove, Illinois I have one child on the way My wife and I both work for the local school district. She is a sixth grade teacher I am the school bus mechanic. Tractors we own are; 1931 D John Deere restoration in progress finished except decals and fenders. (2)1928 McCormick-Deering 10-20's both on steel and unrestored one will be used for parts and one restored. 1960 Allis-Chalmers D-17 Diesel wide front this one is for sale and is still in the process of being repaired all I need is paint, a seat and some gauges, this one's been a money pit but is runs like a sewing machine now. |
My dad has been farming for about 20 years. I have helped him since I was old enough to pick up a wrench. We have always used old equipment to farm 240 acres so I know a Gleaner combine, AC 7040 tractor, JD 630, and various other equipment inside and out. I believe that I can help anyone needing general information on mechanical problems, or can get the information from others that I know.
I have been an antique tractor nut for almost as long as I can remember. When in high school I was in the FFA and was the chapter's first historian. Wile historian I spearheaded an effort to get a antique tractor show going in conjunction with the local fall festival. Keep in mind this was before many people were very interested in old iron. Other FFA members and I hauled other people's tractors to the show for them because they were not interested enough to do it themselves. Needless to say after 2 years of this I was graduating from school and no one else wanted all that work so they didn't have another one after that. I am also involved in the Tennessee Valley Pioneer Power Show in Eagleville TN, in September of each year for the last 10 years.
I would love to talk to anyone interested in old tractors or equipment. Equipment is the future of this hobby I believe.
I would also consider hauling tractors for people who don't have a way to get that new piece of iron home.
