354 Perkins Question

Is a"drop in"?The 1850 is 3 point mount. Super 99 and R Lund have used combine engines Do you have a core engine in the 1850? Tell us which way you are trying to go.

I know where there is a 1850 with a bad motor and a MF 1100 with a good motor but other mechanical problems, just wondering if its feasible to try to put
the MF motor in the 1850 since I know there can be a lot of differences in 354 motors.

Basically, you're just using the block, head, crank, pistons and rods and valve train when you transplant another 354 in to an 1850. If the Oliver front pulley will work on the crank, and I would imagine that it would,or if the Massey front pulley will work with the Oliver front cover,it should be no different than putting a combine engine in one.

It should, I'm dumb enough that I'd try it. Put a 354 T out of a 750 in my 1850. Basically use the block and head and everything else has to come off of the Oliver. Try searching the archives for my posts, there are pictures before I painted it, you can see the red and green parts. Chris

What kind of problems with the 1100? I know this is the oliver board but having an 1850 and a 1105 I would take the 1105 anyday over the 1850, love my 1850 just like the massey more!

Hey,I just thought of something. If you're still interested in doing the swap, check the manifold bolt pattern. You can swap a combine engine in to an 1850,but it's not so simple if you swap one in to a White 2-85 or 2-105. I don't remember which is which, but the manifold bolt pattern is horizontal on one and diagonal on the other. Which ever way it is,the combine and 1850 are the same, the White is the other way. I don't know if the Massey tractor would be the same as the combine or the White tractor.

The naturally aspirated ones are one way and the turbo ones go the other way

So a 2-85 is one way and a 2-105 is the other then? My 1850 and 105 are different,I'd have to go out and look to tell you which is which though. Sounds like a turboed Massey 750 engine would work in a 2-105 without any problems then.

Just for future reference, the manifold bolts are horizontal on the White 2-105,diagonal on the Oliver 1850 with the White 8700 combine engine and original 1850 manifold.
