2-85/105 oil capacity

Changed oil in my low houred new to me 2-85. Book says both 85 and 105 take 16 qts. Put 16 qts in and it barely registered on the dip stick. 105 was sitting close by so compared dip sticks and switched them around. 85 stick in 105 registered full, 105 stick in 85 barely registered. Took about 20 qts to bring the 85 to the full mark. Any ideas what could be going on? did some have a bigger oil pan ? Dip stick tube seems to be the same length . Any ideas appreciated.

Deeper oil pan? Longer dipstick tube or possibly tube is partially pulled out of block?

Good grief next time I?ll read the entire post. There were lots of Perkins applications so maybe a different pan.

I tapped on the tube and it seemed solid and I checked the length of the tube. Hard to measure accurately but seemed to be the same. Its got me baffled.
