Hi guys: how many of you have ever turboed a non turbo 354 Perkins? Did you do a lot of custom fabricating or use factory parts off of a 2-135 or other engine?

The fuel tank will have to be cut, altered and welded. One of the mechanics at the AGCO dealer put one on his.

You don?t need custom parts but there is some work to change all of this out if your looking to run it as a regular tractor or pull it you need to change the pistons, injectors and the valve springs in the head for the pulling tractor I would recommend a dot 4 head for better air flow a heavier set of connecting rod with the 1 1/2 wrist pin and the dot 4 pistons which have the heavy steel landings on them so you don?t push the rings off with all of that compression if you want any more info I?d be glad to help

If you want more power, sell the 1850 and buy a bigger tractor. There is more to turbo'ing a 354 than just slapping a turbo on it. The turbo engine had piston cooler oil nozzles, etc. and other items to improve heat rejection. If you are trying to make a puller and do not care about engine life then have at it. I fail to see why people want to take a 12-15000 hour engine and turn it into a 5000 hour engine.

Here is a pic of the turbo setup we put on our 1850. Engine was out of a 2-105 I rebuilt with DOT 4 pistons and used parts from the original engine to make it fit in the 1850. The stock pistons don't take the power and will break ring lands easily like everyone else said. It starts great in cold weather, great power and little to no smoke. Don't know for sure but it's in the 170hp range. It has the stock pump on maxed out. Need some more fuel to make more power.
