51 8n lower radiator hose

What lower hose are you guys using on your
8n's? I'm using the one from this site and
I noticed today the belt is cutting into
the hose. I was pretty sure I had ordered
the right hose. I remember thinking man
that's close to the belt when I installed
it.

The hose has been on there since 06 when
the tractor was restored. I don't know if
it has been like that and just never cut
all the way through or if it just started
today.

The hose survived a 2 hour tractor ride
today which is how I noticed it. I was
checking things over when I got back and
noticed the first 1/4 inch of the belt was
glossy.

One of the first things I noticed when I got the 52 running was the fan belt was very loose. When I adjusted the generator to tighten the belt it was hitting the radiator hose. First thought was wrong hose, but I took it off and swapped ends, then there was plenty of room for the belt. Maybe you have it on the wrong way too?

x2 what deano said. i had to change mine last year, and i remember having to ponder which way to put it on.

There are TWO different lower radiator hoses. First is p/n 9N-8286, used '39-'50 with the tractors having the FRONT MOUNT DISTRIBUTOR. Second is for 8N's having the later ANGLE (SIDE) MOUNT DISTRIBUTOR, p/n 8N-8286, 50-52. Forget trying tp ID a model year; it means nothing. It is whether you have a front mount or a side mount that matters. BTW & FYI, YT doesn't manufacture parts. They only sell from a select few dealers and many don't know what they have. It matters where you buy from.
