FORD TRACTOR SAFETY RULES

The recent fatal tractor rollover accident the other day inspired me to remind all farm tractor and implement owners/operators to remember these general safety rules. These are from the OEM Ford Manuals but apply to every make and model of machine. SAFETY IS RULE #1!

GAS CAP EXCHANGE PROGRAM FOR VENTED CAP:

Gasoline boiling in tractors has been a serious issue in recent years and one major reason is the OEM gas cap on early models was not vented and thus could cause a vacuum in the tank. FORD offered an exchange program to switch your OEM non-vented cap for a new vented style. This is the service Bulletin that covered that.

I'll add one of my own.
If you parked outside and your rear tires a frozen in mud, manure or just ice, make your first move in reverse!

I was going to post this yesterday...
It never hurts to be reminded about safety.
On the other hand, we kill about 35,000 people a year on the nation's highways.
Yet, when we jump in our cars to go to their funeral no one harangues us to drive safely.
Accidents happen. They always will.

Good stuff Tim. I'm not starting an argument here, just a question on the gas cap issue. The N gas tanks are vented, at least the one on my 2N is. Why would I need a replacement cap?

the vent on N gas tanks often becomes plugged. if it does, it's WAY easier to simply replace the cap with a vented one, rather than clear the two holes that the vent consists of. if u look in your FO-4 for the diagram of the gas tank and its vent, you'll see why.

(quoted from post at 07:09:19 05/12/20) How many of you have a fire extinguisher on your N series tractor?
i have one on both of mine. and one in each vehicle i own. a couple in my shop, one in the kitchen and one in the laundry room. fire is the only thing that truly frightens me as an adult. you only have a few seconds to extinguish it. once it grows beyond a certain size, its uncontrollable then you are waiting on the fire department to come out.
when i take a truck out for a road test at work, i take one with me if the truck does not have one.
an ounce of prevention....

This is on my 8N. I have the same mount on my MF202.
