This 8n engine and tranny are on an old cement mixer truck. The engine is underpowered due to the speed it's try to mix. Is there a slower tranny or a way to step this one down? Not even sure what tranny this is. I can't find any numbers anywhere

I'm not sure what the trans is. Depending on the gearing you have in that trans the four 4 speed with the granny low might be a lower speed. The cast bellhousing might be an
industrial application. Have a granny speed out and will look at bellhousing today. Also granny speed bolted up to worthington tractors some 8n engines. Here is the bellhousing
for later overhead engine like 134/172/192. You might want to check the ford F1 truck forum. They might have more info on gearing. Also the ford 1941 truck used an 8n engine but
not sure which trans they used. Here is one of my worthingtons with 8n engine and granny 4 speed.

What you have is not a tractor transmission as they have no back end in them as connected directly to differential housing.

Looks like a Ford/Mercury 3-speed "side-loader" transmission from the flathead V-8 era.

Does it have any number above the plate on the trans?

Here is one I have with pto. This may bolt up to your bellhousing. If you want to take yours trans off and punch out a cardboard pattern of the tans I can match it up to mine
to see if it will bolt to the trans side of your bellhousing.

Here's one in my worthington.

This link shows the trans I have with pto and states was also used in mixers. What is your game plan for the trans? Can you show photo of the mixer? My Email is open.
