New rear hoops

Guys I am not going to try to save my old rear hoops they are just in to bad shape to try to weld up and patch. I have new 12.4x28 tires I am guessing I need 12x28 rims or is there something I dont know about what would look best. Thanks Skip

In general most tires can be mounted on a range of rim widths. For any given tire size there is an industry standard "measuring width" on which the stated sidewall and aspect ratio are based. The measuring width of a 12.4 R1 tire is 11". You could mount them on a 10" or 12" rim but it will alter the actual sidewall width and aspect ratio. If buying new rims I would suggest you stick to the standard measuring width for your tires unless you have a good reason for going larger or smaller.

My old tires were 12.4 on 10 inch rims but if I am going to get new
rims I will get 11 inch rims. My old rims had been filled with water and
were eaten up and I was going to get some thin flat bar and patch
them up but they were just to thin and pitted up. After I sandblasted
them for priming they looked like Swiss cheese

Yep 11". I replace many of those darn hat rims with them. Every time I went to put new tires on a n ferd, I
took 2 rims with me. About 50% of the time I had to put 1 or both of them on.
