Getting to the point were my 8 n is running pretty good after working on it all winter. I want to install a tool box and not quite sure were to put it. I don't want to put a oem box under the battery compartment door. Just wondering about locations. I don't have a loader but I do a lot of 3 point work. Thank's all

If it were me, I'd probably fasten one on the rear axle. I've seen a couple attached to fenders that rotted out the fenders from rust. I've been toying with the idea of using a toolbox back there for handling larger tools like an ax or a saw for when I clear out my path in the woods. There always seems to be low hanging branches.

I like the looks of the Ferguson toolbox but not the price.

I have a later tractor.
On mine the tool box was mounted on the fender. But I hate rattles. And a bunch of tools, etc make a lot of noise if mounted on the fender.
So I took a thin plate and drilled holes to fit the bolts for the fender and bolted the tool box to that. It is quiet, does not interfere with the 3 point and is handy for grabbing lynch pins, etc back where you need them.

My next tool boxes will be the internal fender style and mounted on the stabilizer arm. I have long gotten tired of walking back and forth for tools. How do you mount it on the arms you ask??

This one works well for me. Idea belongs to my dad, has worked well for us since the tractor was new in 1963. This photo taken around 2007.

My temporary solution that has turned out temporarily permanent is a heavy leather bag that hangs by leather lace from my rear light bracket. The tools don't rattle and I can easily bring the bag in so it doesn't get mouldy in this incessant wet weather.

Any big box end/open end wrenches I use for implement adjustments I hang from big shackles that have their pins through those fat eyelets atop the diff housing.

I keep looking for just the right place for a metal box but the cons always outweigh the pros. One thing is if I ever have to abandon ship, I don't want a fender mounted or axle topside mounted or running board mounted box blocking my only escape route.
Hard to see but there she be:
