I am almost ready for 2k epoxy primer and final color just a little more cleanup to do. I am thinking about PPG Vermillion red is that the correct color red.

Vermillion red is the "called for" color. I like it.
Your tractor though, paint it whatever color you like.

If you want to sell it to the public, not collector folks, paint it
Farmall red and Ford light gray. That's what the general public
seems to think is "right". Lots of them painted that way.
Almost never see a medium gray 8N or Jube around here.

This one wasn't 100% correct, but I did paint it with the correct
MAIN colors as far as I know. Vermillion red, medium gray.

Check with your local NH dealer for original Ford red and gray paint. They might be able to get it for you.

No my buddy is a PPG rep who will get me whatever paint I want. I am going with a red polyurethane with a hardner and a coat of clear over that. I don't want a single stage enamel that will turn pink in 5 years

The sheet metal is Ford Medium Gray.
Correct color gray for 8N and Jubilee/NAA.

The silver on the rear rims is close to correct AFAIK.
Originally heavy metal plated seems to be the consensus.
I used Rustoleum hammered silver on them to replicate that.

None of these tractors ever came with a base-coat/clear-coat
finish. Ford operator manuals recommended touching them up
and/or repainting them with a brush. They were meant to work.

If single stage enamel turns pink in short order, it is most
likely because the recommended hardner wasn't used in it.
Cars, trucks and tractors were painted with it for years.

Still, your tractor, paint it as you see fit. I'd love to see pictures!

I m not using a base coat clear coat I am using a hardened enamel with a clear over that. If I just used a base coat clear coat and the clear got scratched the base would deteriorate pretty fast. I will go with a hardened enamel so that if the clear gets cut through it will still retain its color. Besides the cows like a shiny tractor when it goes past them when I mow my runway with it

I've been trying different reds in Poly.

Royse, Crispie looks great with vermillion too!

My lift links etc. are in Old formula Farmall Red Polyurethane.
My MF Cutter is sporting New Holland Red Polyurethane
and so is this oil bath air cleaner.
I was running around looking for how to use up the last of the paint. It's a poor photo cause it was dusk when I took it and I use editing to remove as much shadow as I could.

But I think this Valspar New Holland Red is going to be my choice for future stuff and chassis areas, but work clothes are fine for now.

As I said, your tractor, paint it as you see fit! :)

Well, I think Vermillion red is the ideal color. It maybe because I dont have much green on my yard. I agree that red and strong greens don;t really match that well.
