White 2-135 Differences

Looking at buying a White 2-135 2wd but upon looking at pics of them I noticed that some are all silver and some have red stripes or decals so to say. Dont know if that's like a different series thing. If anyone could enlighten me itd be much appreciated TIA.

There were three versions. The gray stripe was the earliest. White went bankrupt in 81 and was bought up by Texas Investments. When
they restarted production, they made the red stripe Series 2 with WFE on the hood sides instead of White. It was pretty much the
same as the gray stripe mechanically. The first ones built in 82 were the Series 3 red stripe. The cab looks the same on the
outside, but it's really totally different. It's the modular cab, isolated from the dash. The whole interior is different. The dash
is high and black, not the knee knocking low woodgrain dash, and has a digital tach. The console is higher, levers are longer. The
shift, Over/Under lever and throttle are all on the console. I can't tell you if there are any actual mechanical differences to
speak of. I have an 82 Series 3, but don't have any personal experience with the first two series.

This is the Series 3 console and what you can see of the dash.

There was an article in Heritage Iron about the White tractors a while back. Here is the a picture of the
controls on our 1981 red stripe 135.
