G1000 water in oil

I have a G1000 that a friend dropped off at my place. He had it running last year but it was pushing coolant into the oil. Everything else worked and it sounded good. He was told it may be a head gasket but is it a dry block or does it have liners? Want to fix it to sell it but don't want to open a huge xan of worms.

I'd go after the water pump first and hope for the best! Not the best design in the world, if the seal in the water pump goes and the weep holes are blocked, the pump can leak directly into the crankcase.

I never am lucky enough for a bad water pump. Usually can bet money on cracked head or more than one cracked head when I'm fixing them. If it's a gas, pull plugs, diesel, can pull injectors to see if water in a cylinder. To check water pump can take oil filter inner canister out and look with a mirror to see where coolant is coming from if you put a pressure tester on it. Wouldn't mind a nice G1000 row crop if it would be for sale.

If it is a cracked head or head gasket, it usually will miss when you first start it up cold and maybe blow white smoke.

Otherwise, hopefully, it will just be the water pump.
