Wife inherited fathers U LP tricycle front, would like to put a modern loader on (non vintage era) and wide front, what are my options?

What our your fabrication abilities? Mounting a modern loader on a U will require a lot of work and in the end you will have a loader tractor that is clumsy to use with a hand clutch. Plus visibility of the bucket will be limited do to low seating position and won't be much better if you stand. If its a UB which has a foot clutch and raised operator platform it would be better visibility wise but still require same amount of fab work to attach. As far as the wide front end is concerned there are wide front ends out there but hard to find in good shape and require a fair bit of work to change if your wanting to stay factory correct. Your best bet is to look for a swarts wide front cheaper and easier to find. They serve there purpose but are ugly as far as a collector tractor is concerned. What your wanting is achievable but you would be money ahead to put the money you would spend on a newer loader and front end towards a newer better suited loader tractor if your looking for a good loader tractor. If your just looking for an excuse to use the new to you old tractor auger work is much better suited for a U. I have a swarts wide front I'd sell if you decide to go that route. Are you familiar with L/P and able to fill it at your place.

Wanting to make it earn it's keep and use for something besides tractor drives. Have a repair business and need something w/forks, tractor works great w/towbar pushing dead tractors in shop and have access to LP. Don't need a quicktach but a more streamlined loader like Great Bend, just don't want something that looks like a Rail Road bridge.john

Sounds like you?ll be able to handle the project just need to look at loaders and get the measurements of there mounting points and see what would work best to attach to the old U. I haven?t seen a modern loader put on one so can?t help as to what brand would be a good fit.
